Reviewed By Amy Raines for Readers’ Favorite In The Warrior’s Whisper (Windy City Nights 1) by Dania Voss, flashbacks brought on by PTSD plagued Heath Jackson. His time in Sangin, Afghanistan had left him riddled with nightmares and almost completely deaf. Heath’s best friend Jake was getting married and trying to encourage him to settle down. Heath wanted everything Jake was discussing but he wanted Leah, Jake’s baby sister. For one, Heath considered his best friend’s little sister off-limits no matter how badly he wanted her. Two, he couldn’t bring himself to inflict his own problems and nightmares on her. Leah had known Heath all her life and loved him even though she was certain he only saw her as the little kids they had once been. She was determined to show him that she was all woman, his woman from head to toe. Heath and Leah decide to spend the weekend after Jake’s wedding together to see how things go. Will Heath be able to get past his problems and love Leah as fully as he longs to? Can Leah handle being with an injured soldier the way she says she can? Will the weekend put an end to their lifelong friendship or will their desires be enough to bind them physically as well as emotionally? I absolutely loved The Warrior’s Whisper and cannot wait to see what Dania Voss has in store for Windy City Nights 2! The plot is amazing. I loved how Voss goes into such perfect detail of the PTSD and insecurities soldiers face when they come home. The characters are well designed so that they fit into the story with their own unique personalities. I loved how Heath, Jake, and Luke banter the way only the best of friends really do. Heath’s personal conflict of whether or not he should be with Leah, even though her brother gave his blessing, really set the stage for his major concerns. I recommend The Warrior’s Whisper to anyone who loves a great romance full of real-life trials. I loved the uncertainty and emotion that went into the story along with love and lust. I got so caught up in the story that I couldn’t believe I had actually stop because it was over! Bravo to Dania Voss and the way she molded this story together so flawlessly and professionally.
