It's November 1st and NaNoWriMo has begun! I began my writing around 6:00am Central time this morning, before my work day started. I'm fortunate to be a full time IT teleworker so I was able to get writing time in between work responsibilities and meetings. I admit as nervous as I was to get started I had fun getting my story on paper...well MS Word to be precise. Why did I wait so long to do this? I don't know - I suppose I just wasn't psychologically and emotionally ready. I ended up with 2035 words written for the day, surpassing the 1667 needed each day to end November with 50,000 words. I will happily take that. Each work day is different and I want to reach at least 1667 words every day. I'm well into Chapter 1. I did find myself doing some edits along the way, which I know is not recommended. I know it will slow me down, so I'll try my best to not do it. During a teleconference meeting I attended, I got my digital recorder configured. I can see where dictating and then having Dragon transcribe the mp3 file will certainly speed up the process, but I am going to draft my first story the old fashioned way using MS Word. I don't know if I'll post an update every day, but I will post updates frequently throughout the month. I'll at least update my total word count on my website homepage daily. |
